I found your blog and I thought this looked fun, so I decided to submit my beagle Jayne. She doesn’t conform to the standard by any means, probably because we got her from a man who breeds solely for hunting and isn’t too concerned with looks. This is as straight as I could get her to stand. So, how does she fair structure wise?
While her front is carried well, she looks like she’s crouching here, giving her a sloped top, and also possibly cowhocked. That could also just be the confusing lines of the photo (I tried to hand-vogue it) and the fact that neither of her hind feet are set squarely. She looks really powerful and manoeuvrable, though, does she fly like a spring? Her underside looks odd, but I think it’s an illusion caused by her markings, though she could have a short thorax, which would give less room for the organs housed there. (Beagles and their lungs, yeesh! Maybe it’s a good thing!)
Generally, if your dog moves like a beast and loves doing it, there isn’t much to worry about.
